Concert was taped for MTV in Times Square at the Hard Rock Cafe. L.A. Reid was in the building as well as Chrisette Michele to help Nas perform Can't Forget About You. Let me say NY was FREEZING, got there early and I was turning into ice, then people came and said we can watch the concert going on before Nas, Gym Class Heroes, and still be in front of the line for the Nas concert. I definitely got lucky, because outside was brick and I had mad time left to do nothing. Gym Class Heroes was ok, I like that song Cupid that they got and what the hell it was free.

After that concert, I lined up for the Nas concert and of course people were trying to skip, it didn't matter, i was still front row like usual. Chrisette Michele looks better that what other people would have lead me to believe, I want to see what she has to offer on her album. Concert was nice, No Cormega and Foxy like the Nokia concert, but the concert was still hot, you can watch the video and judge for yourself.

Interesting article I wanted you guys to read and give your thoughts on. Here is some of the article:

Hip-hop has grown from its inner-city roots to appeal to a diverse and worldwide audience. It is no longer the fad some once considered it.

Unfortunately, it is also having a profound negative impact on young blacks. This aspect of hip-hop can no longer be tolerated.

Hip-hop is not just a style of music. It is a culture borne of poor, inner-city life in America that has evolved into the rallying cry of those unable to negotiate the nuances of the mainstream. It now serves to glorify formerly stigmatized characteristics of the lower class, preventing the impetus for upward mobility.

To start with, hip-hop lyrics involve recurring themes of braggadocio to the extent that one can only wonder if it is overcompensation for inadequacy.

Beyond the music, hip-hop culture encompasses street codes of behavior and an overall defiance of social convention. It is this defiance of mainstream life that is at the root of much of the underachievement now plaguing black youth. Hip-hop orthodoxy infers that young blacks who emulate mainstream attitudes are exhibiting weakness. This, of course, is a cardinal sin within that culture.

Nas spoke with MTV about his video and future plans, here are some excerpts:

New album is in the making right now," Nas said Sunday night, sitting in his trailer outside the set of his new video for "Can't Forget About You." "07, new Nas album, I can't wait. I'm not finished. I feel like something is starting right now. This is a momentum and a movement that's happening out here. I gotta make sure I stay the captain of this ship and push it forward. I'm here at Def Jam, I'm renaming it the Black Oasis. You bring Nas into any situation like the situation that's at Def Jam and you gonna get nothing but the top of the line.

"I'm friends with [Def Jam A&R rep] J. Brown, and he said, 'Nas wants you to be in the video.' I said 'OK,' " said Natalie Cole, wearing a black suit, Chuck Taylor sneakers and a pendant of a crown (to pay homage to her famous father). "I hadn't heard [the song yet]. But I've heard of Nas, and I thought it was cool. I knew we had already given the license for the use of 'Unforgettable.' I think it's great every time I see the hip-hop world reaching back and getting great vintage stuff. I think the title ['Can't Forget About You'], it's appropriate. Then Nas got on the phone, we talked, and here I am."

They had a choice," said Game's manager, Jimmy "Henchman" Rosemond, who helped smooth things over with the displeased women. "They had two choices: You could either be clowned or we can make this fun where people won't take it as serious. If you fight against it, it becomes serious, 'cause we could get the look-alikes and clown in fun. But if you participate, it can be more impactful. For instance, [model] Melyssa Ford, we'll have her in a Honda Accord [in the video], but then Game will kinda wake up out of that spell and we'll have her in a 500 Benz. We'll clean it up for her. Father Gets 9 Months For Killing Molest Suspect

According to MSNBC:

A man was sentenced to nine months in prison Friday for beating to death a 77-year-old man he believed had molested his 5-year-old daughter.

Robert Fontanez Jr. pleaded guilty last year to killing Bismark Vasquez. Police have said that although there was no physical evidence to support his daughter's allegations that Vasquez had fondled her, the account she gave police was consistent with what she had told her family.

In April, an infuriated Fontanez punched Vasquez so hard that Vasquez went through the back door of his home. Fontanez punched him several more times as he lay bleeding on the concrete outside, police said.

Fontanez, 27, of Elsmere, had been charged with second-degree murder but pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide.

Superior Judge Joseph Slights III sentenced Fontanez to far less than the maximum five years, telling him, “The circumstances surrounding this crime were taken into consideration by the state” and the court.

Interesting case, a man only gets nine months for killing someone. Although he was suspected of fondling his daughter, there was no physical evidence that it actually occured. It's very dangerous for people to play vigilantes when there is no concrete evidence. Of course if you were the parent its not that easy stay calm and not lash out. The question is does this man deserve a more strict sentence?

In this case the father stabbed the suspect to death, and cops later said he the suspect was innocent. Link

looks of a woman he met over the Internet that he hanged himself after seeing her face-to-face, state media reported Friday. The unnamed teenager first contacted the woman -- known by her chat moniker "Qunjiaofeiyang", or "Flying Skirt" -- using the popular Chinese online messaging software QQ, Xinhua news agency said.

The girl described herself as a beautiful 19-year-old and the pair chatted on the Web for weeks before arranging a December 26 rendezvous in the nearby city of Mudanjiang, in far northeastern Heilongjiang province. The boy arrived to discover the woman far less attractive than advertised and 10 years older than him, Xinhua said. The boy immediately returned home, lost his appetite, and four days later hanged himself from a tree.

I first had to hit up the 50 Cent Book signing for his new line of G-Unit Books. Security was mad tight, he came through with Tony Yayo and two authors that helped him with his books. He gave a little speech about his books, which I have video of. He seemed cool, greeted people with a smile and handshakes, definitely doesn't look as big in person as he does on TV. Busta's latest victim gave the details on what happened to the NY Post.

Hatchett, still nursing cuts to his face, said he went to Rhymes' office at 84 Broadway, near City Hall, at around 7 p.m. on the day after Christmas with 19 days' worth of unpaid work invoices. He wouldn't say exactly how much Rhymes owes.

The discussion grew heated, and, Hatchett said, Rhymes screamed at him. "I don't know what set him off," Hatchett said.

"I told him, 'I ain't scared of you,' " he said. "That's when his bodyguards grabbed me, and he punched and kicked me."

Rhymes brags about his wealth in his songs - but Hatchett said he's cheap and mean to his help.

Hatchett said he couldn't afford a Christmas gift for his kid. "I didn't speak to my daughter for Christmas. I was embarrassed," he said.

In the Upcoming movie, "Smokin Aces," we get to see another side of Alicia Keys. She running around with guns and dropping F-bombs. She also says her next album may be out in June. Segements of the interview:

MTV: How did director Joe Carnahan talk you into making your film debut?

Keys: I was performing in Anaheim, California, and he came backstage and was like, "Did you read the script yet?" And I hadn't. He said, "This is not a punk you're going to be playing. This isn't just some pretty love story that you're going to do." That alone made me very intrigued about it, because naturally, as anyone on this planet knows, when you are told that it's something either that you shouldn't or wouldn't normally do, you want to do it.

MTV: You've been recording your follow-up to The Diary of Alicia Keys. Give us an update.

Keys: It's coming together incredibly. I am in love with this album. It's very fresh and new. I'm really enjoying the process, and I think this may be the most fun I've had recording yet, in regards to just being free about it and allowing all the new things I'm learning to come out through this music.

50 Cent Will Be Signing Books In NYC This Thursday

50 Cent has a new line of books coming out called, "Hip Hop Novellas," as part of his G-unit books imprint. Titles for his new books are, "The Ski Mask Way," "Death Before Dishonor," and "Baby Brother." For those wishing to attend:

To ensure 50 Cent, Nikki Turner and K. Elliott have the opportunity to meet as many customers as possible, no photographs are allowed. No memorabilia, CDs, periodicals, or books about or by 50 Cent, with the exception of G-Unit Books, will be signed by 50 Cent.

Beginning Thursday, Jan. 4 at 9 a.m., wristbands will be given out to customers who have purchased copies of G-Unit Books. There is a limit of up to five autographed copies of any G-Unit Books per wristband. Wristbands will be given out on a first come, first served basis and will offer customers a place in line, but do not guarantee a chance to meet the authors. Copies of the book are available for purchase at Borders stores.
